How to Stay on Track with Your Health Goals While Still Enjoying the Season

Summer brings sunshine, longer days, vacations, and lots of social events—and while it’s a season of fun, it can also be a time when healthy habits slip through the cracks. Between cocktails on the patio, ice cream runs, and family road trips, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling “off track” with your wellness routine.
But here’s the good news: You can enjoy summer without throwing in the towel on your health goals. With a little intention and some simple strategies, you can feel energized, balanced, and vibrant all season long.
Here are our favorite ways to eat clean, stay hydrated, and support your health—even when on vacation:
1. Stay Hydrated the Smart Way
Hot weather, salty foods, and alcohol can all deplete your hydration quickly—and dehydration is one of the biggest culprits behind fatigue, headaches, sugar cravings, and poor digestion.
Try this:
Start your day with a large glass of water + a pinch of mineral-rich sea salt or an electrolyte powder (especially if you’re sweating or active).
Keep a reusable water bottle with you—aim for at least 65-80 oz per day.
Infuse water with fresh herbs, cucumber, lemon, or berries to make it more flavorful.
Bonus: Coconut water or homemade electrolyte drinks are great for beach days or after outdoor workouts.
2. Prioritize Veggies—Even at BBQs
Summer meals often lean heavy on grilled meats, chips, and sweet treats. But fiber-rich, antioxidant-packed veggies are key to keeping digestion moving, supporting your liver, and keeping blood sugar stable.
Try this:
Bring a big chopped salad, grilled veggie skewers, or cauliflower “potato” salad to gatherings.
Add arugula, sprouts, or shredded cabbage to burgers, wraps, or tacos.
Blend frozen zucchini, spinach, or cucumber into smoothies for a stealthy nutrient boost.

3. Be Mindful with Alcohol (Think Mocktails instead!)
There’s nothing wrong with the occasional cocktail, but daily drinks can take a toll on your sleep, hormones, and gut. Refreshing mocktails are in—and they’re just as festive, minus the next-day bloat.
Try this:
Swap alcohol for sparkling water with muddled mint, lime, and berries.
Try a splash of kombucha or coconut water with citrus over ice.
Explore non-alcoholic spirits or herbal adaptogen blends that support your adrenals instead of draining them.
4. Stick to Simple Routines (Even on Vacation)
Traveling or having an unstructured schedule doesn’t mean your habits need to disappear. You don’t need perfection—just a few non-negotiables to anchor your day.
Try this:
Start the day with a nourishing breakfast high in protein and healthy fats.
Pack healthy snacks like nuts, protein bars, or cut veggies.
Move your body—walk, stretch, or swim—even if it’s just for 15 minutes.
Prioritize sleep: bring your eye mask, magnesium glycinate, and aim for consistency with your bedtime.
5. Stay Rooted in Your Why
Summer is about joy, freedom, and connection. You don’t need to be rigid to stay healthy—but remembering why you care about your health can help you stay intentional and avoid the “I’ll start over in September” trap.
Ask yourself:
How do I want to feel in my body this summer?
What habits help me feel clear, light, and energized?
What can I let go of—and what can I lovingly recommit to?
You don’t have to choose between enjoying your summer and staying healthy—you can have both. With a little prep, a flexible mindset, and a few smart swaps, you can support your body while fully embracing all the fun this season has to offer.
